Together with my family I visited the
Castello da Verrazzano, one of our
Chianti jewels. There was a good occasion to visit this castle because of the
open cellars 2009, a week end dedicated to wineries. We visited the garden (very well maintained), the tower and the sign dedicated to Verrazzano, the sailor who discovered the Hudson Bay. Then we visited the cellars with its
enormous barrels (80hl!) and finally the tasting. We had
two red wines and something to eat together.
At the end of the tasting we proceeded towards another close by castle, the Castello of Vicchiomaggio, once a Medici residence, but unfortunately we didn’t have any visits or tastings because their cellars were only open at 11am and at 4,30pm (too late for us).
